BIO - Brig Bearden,   Publisher

Brig Bearden began his publishing career in 1987, selling $33 one-inch ads for a startup publishing company with two magazines. The company grew rapidly and by 1996 it was publishing 15 magazines and employing over 100 people with annual revenue exceeding $50 million dollars.

During this growth, Brig worked his way up to Senior Vice-President and Group Publisher where he was responsible for five magazines and managed the company’s recruiting and training programs. Through his leadership and guidance, several publications were created and launched with great success. In 1997, Brig satisfied his entrepreneurial hunger when he formed his own company and launched Utility Products magazine. Within five years it became the leading industry magazine for the electric, telecommunications, and cable utility industries.

During this time, Brig also started a custom publishing division that helped launch ten new titles for independent publishers while providing ongoing graphic design and layout services. He also created a publishing co-op that provided negotiating clout for key services such as printing. In 2007, he sold his business to Pennwell Publishing where Utility Products magazine continues to be the leading industry magazine. Brig then provided consulting services for various media ventures and also became Executive Director of the Green Building Focus Conference and Expo. In 2011, he was recruited to become publisher and general manager of the Rotorcraft Pro Media Network (RPMN) and Rotorcraft Pro magazine. Six months later, Brig sought Lyn Burks to become Editor-In-Chief of Rotorcraft Pro and shortly thereafter both bought equal ownership of RPMN and Rotorcraft Pro. It’s been the perfect marriage of a career businessto- business publisher joining forces with a career “rotorcraft pro” to offer a new world of media choices to the helicopter industry.

Brig is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. In his little spare time, Brig is a bit of sports junky. While he loves watching the Alabama Crimson Tide, he would rather be active playing golf, tennis, swimming, fishing or biking. As a former amateur triathlete competing in over 25 events from 2001-2005, he was a “finisher” in the Ironman Arizona 2005. He especially enjoys spending time with Tina, his wife of 22 years, and their two smart daughters. Contact: Brig@rotorcraftpro.com
