Sikorsky and United Rotorcraft will join together in front of an actual L.A. County FIREHAWK to describe the transformation Black Hawks undergo to create the most efficient fire-fighting helicopter - and feature crews who flew them first-hand in the severe fires L.A. County experienced this past December.
The Multi-Mission Firehawk introduces new capabilities that are crucial in an increasingly dangerous environment:
- Unmatched ability to deliver initial strike capability; the key is to hit a fire early, before it grows
- Able to deliver a crew of 12 firefighters close to the fire and then deliver water as often as necessary – and then extract the crew after firefighting is finished
- No other helicopter can deliver more water per minute
They will also discuss the recent orders for 15 more FIREHAWKS from multiple firefighting agencies.
