Historic Sycamore Helicopter Flies Home

The world’s last flying ‘Bristol 171 Sycamore’ helicopter will return home to Weston-super-Mare this month when it flies to the Helicopter Museum; 60 years after it was built. The historic aircraft land at the museum on Monday 11 June and be based in its Duke of Edinburgh Hangar until Sunday 24 June. It will be the UK’s first Sycamore flight in 46 years.

NTSB Report Released: Panama City, FL

On May 2, 2018, about 1000 central standard time, a Robinson R-22 Mariner helicopter, N923SM, was substantially damaged during a forced landing to water near Panama City, Florida. The commercial pilot received minor injuries. The flight was operated in accordance with Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a positioning flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan was filed for the flight that departed Perry-Foley Airport (40J), Perry, Florida at 0830, and was destined for Destin Executive Airport (DTS), Destin, Florida.

NTSB Report Released: Borrego Springs, CA

On April 30, 2018, at 1355 Pacific daylight time, a Robinson Helicopter Company R44 II helicopter, N423ML, sustained substantial damage subsequent to a precautionary landing near Borrego Springs, California. The airline transport pilot and 3 passengers were not injured. The helicopter was registered to and operated by Big Blue Corp. Inc. as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 135 business flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the local area flight and no flight plan was filed. The flight originated from Rams Hill Golf Club, Borrego Springs, California about 1350.

NTSB Report Released: Luling, LA

On May 20, 2018, at 1049 central daylight time, an MD Helicopters Inc 369D, N362JS, collided with a powerline structure and terrain while performing aerial inspection/maintenance to the structure near Luling, Louisiana. The helicopter was destroyed by impact forces. The commercial pilot sustained minor injuries, one crewmember sustained fatal injuries, and another crewmember sustained serious injuries. The helicopter was registered to and operated by Air2 LLC under 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 133 as an external load operation that was not operating on a flight plan. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident.

LEONARDO ANNOUNCES THE FIRST SATELLITE-CONTROLLED EUROPEAN MALE-CLASS DRONE FLIGHT
