NTSB Report Released: Sterling City, TX

On June 29, 2018, about 2010 central daylight time, a Robinson helicopter, N787SH, registered to Concho Aviation LLC, of Sterling City, Texas, was destroyed when it impacted the ground for undetermined reasons while on landing approach to its home base of operations in Sterling, Texas. The commercial pilot, who was the sole occupant, sustained fatal injuries. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and a flight plan was not filed. The flight was being conducted under the provisions Federal Code of Regulations Part 91. The flight originated about 1958 from a work location on the McEntire Ranch, Sterling City, Texas.

Korea Aerospace University Orders FRASCA C172 Simulator

Flight Simulator manufacturer, Frasca International, Inc. has received an order for a Cessna 172S Flight Training Device (FTD) from Korea Aerospace University (KAU) Department of Aeronautical Science & Flight Operations, located in Goyang, South Korea. The Level 5 FTD will include NAVIII Garmin G1000 avionics, Frasca TruVision™ visual system with three channel projected display system and Simplicity™ Instructor Operator Station. KAU is a repeat customer of Frasca's and currently uses a Mentor C172 AATD which was delivered in 2017 and a C172 FTD delivered in 2015.

NTSB Report Released: Beach City, OH

On June 25, 2018, about 0830 eastern daylight time, an experimental amateur-built Sibila MH1 helicopter, N32KS, impacted terrain during a forced landing near Beach City, Ohio. The pilot received serious injuries, and the helicopter sustained substantial damage. The helicopter was owned and operated by an individual under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the flight, which was not on a flight plan. The helicopter departed about 0825 from Beach City Airport (2D7), Beach City, Ohio, on a local flight.

Airbus Helicopters and Safran roll out major competitiveness boost to H125 and H130

Marignane, Airbus H125 and H130 helicopter customers will get a boost in their operations thanks to a significant reduction in direct maintenance costs for the Safran Arriel 2D engine, which equips both single engines. The two main improvements provided by Safran are the extension of 25 % of the time between overhaul (TBO) to 5,000 hours for new and in-service helicopters, and the new three year/ 2,000 hours warranty conditions – replacing the previous two year/1,000 hours warranty – for all H125 and H130 helicopters delivered in 2018.

NTSB Report: Las Vegas, NV

On June 13, 2018, about 1059 Pacific daylight time, a Schweizer 269C Helicopter, N557DC, was substantially damaged as the pilot was powering up for takeoff at North Las Vegas Airport (VGT) Las Vegas, Nevada, and the helicopter developed severe vibrations. The pilot sustained minor injuries. The helicopter was registered to a private individual and operated by the pilot under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91, as a personal flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan had been filed. The planned cross county flight was originating at the time, with a planned destination of Perkins Field Airport, Overton, Nevada.

NTSB Report: Oshkosh, WI

On June 9, 2018, at 1229 central daylight time, a Robinson R44 helicopter, N529DW, collided with cables during an initial climb after taking off from a field in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The pilot was fatally injured. The helicopter was substantially damaged. The helicopter was registered to and operated by MF Helicopters LLC as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 135 aerial photography flight. Visual meteorological conditions existed near the accident site at the time of the accident, and a flight plan had not been filed for the local flight. The helicopter was en route to Wittman Field (OSH), Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Airbus Helicopters delivers first H145s to Rega

Donauwörth, Airbus Helicopters has delivered the first two of a total of six H145 helicopters to Swiss Air-Rescue Rega. These will replace Rega’s existing fleet of EC145 helicopters, which will be phased out by mid-2019. The first H145 helicopter is expected to be deployed at the Bern base in October.
