Netherlands Ministry of Defence celebrates opening of new NH90 training facility in Den Helder

Sesto Calende, Italy, October 30, 2019 – Rotorsim, the joint venture owned equally by CAE and Leonardo, today announced the successful start of training on the NH90 Full Mission Flight Trainer (FMFT) following its relocation from the Rotorsim training centre in Sesto Calende, Italy to a new training facility at Maritime Air Base de Kooy in Den Helder, the Netherlands. The Netherlands Ministry of Defence (NLMOD) and Netherlands Defence Helicopter Command recently hosted a ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new NH90 training facility in Den Helder. The ceremony was attended by officers from the Royal Netherlands Navy and Royal Netherlands Air Force; officials from the NLMOD; executives from CAE, Leonardo and Rotorsim; and military officials from Italy and Belgium.

Sikorsky And Rheinmetall Plan Construction Of CH-53K Helicopter Logistics And Fleet Management Center At Leipzig/Halle Airport

LEIPZIG, Germany, Oct. 29, 2019 -- To support Germany’s "Schwerer Transporthubschrauber" (STH) heavy lift helicopter program, Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, and Rheinmetall announced today that they intend to set up a logistics and fleet management center at Leipzig/Halle Airport if the Bundeswehr selects the CH-53K as its next heavy-lift transport helicopter. This would establish numerous high-tech jobs and strengthen Leipzig and the local airport as a prime business location in the long term.

KAMAN RECEIVES ORDER FOR K-MAX HELICOPTER

BLOOMFIELD, Conn.--Oct. 29, 2019--Kaman Aerospace, a division of Kaman Corporation (NYSE:KAMN), announced today that it received a new order for the K-MAX® medium-to-heavy lift helicopter. This brings the total number of firm orders since the relaunch of production to thirteen aircraft. The most recent order is from a new operator, Heli Air-Swiss a member of Heli-Austria of St. Johann im Pongau, Austria. Heli-Austria currently operates 35 aircraft focused on emergency medical services, tourism, aerial construction and flight training. Delivery of this aircraft is planned for December of 2019.

NTSB Preliminary Report: Bloomsburg, PA

On September 28, 2019, about 1930 eastern daylight time, an Enstrom F-28F helicopter, N380SH, was substantially damaged when it impacted terrain and vehicles during an approach to a helipad at the Bloomsburg Fair in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. The commercial pilot sustained serious injuries and the two passengers sustained minor injuries. The helicopter was operated by J&J Shop HeliAir LLC. under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 as a local sightseeing flight. Night visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed for the local flight that originated about 1920.

On August 28, 2019, about 1035 eastern daylight time, a Robinson R44 helicopter, N21EH, was substantially damaged when it impacted the ground while taxiing at Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport (SFM), Sanford, Maine. The private pilot sustained serious injuries. The flight was operated by the pilot as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 solo instructional flight. Day, visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed. The flight originated at Laconia Municipal Airport (LCI), Laconia, New Hampshire about 1000.

NTSB Preliminary Report: Fort Meade, FL

On October 3, 2019, at 1503 eastern daylight time, a Bell OH-58A helicopter, N911RW, sustained substantial damage when it rolled over during a rescue mission in Fort Meade, Florida. The commercial pilot and the individual being rescued were not injured. The helicopter was registered to and operated by the Polk County Sheriff's Office as a local, public-use flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and a company flight rules flight plan was filed for the flight that departed the Barstow Executive Airport (BOW), Barstow, Florida, at 1412.

Thales completes Airbus H145 Full Flight Simulator for Helisim training center in Texas

Grand Prairie, Texas – 23 October 2019 – Thales has completed the production of a new H145 Level D Full Flight Simulator that will be installed in the Helisim Simulation Center now under construction at the headquarters of Airbus Helicopters Inc. in Grand Prairie, Texas. Upon completion of factory acceptance testing, the simulator is now going to be disassembled for shipment to Texas. Simulation center construction, installation of the H145 simulator, and Federal Aviation Administration certification are expected to be completed in Q2 2020.
