Expanding Customer Interest in Axnes Wireless Intercom Technology

February 26, 2018 - Las Vegas, NV - Axnes, the leader in airborne and special mission wireless intercom systems, has announced expansion into a new market segment. Several customers in the aerial firefighting and utility industries including US Special Operations Command (SOCOM), Norwegian Air Ambulance and Norwegian Police and the Turkish Air Force, have recently selected Axnes PNG wireless ICS products. Over the last two years, Axnes has successfully introduced their MP50 and MP30 handheld transceiver systems to this underserved technology segment. The waterproof MP50 and the smaller water resistant MP30 have wide-ranging features, such as full-duplex transmission and reception, built-in noise and echo cancelling, GPS positioning, NVG compatibility, along with secure proprietary waveform and protocol technology and standard AES256 encryption. Both devices are encased in rugged water and dust resistant aircraft grade aluminum cases. The PNG systems also provide for common headset and microphone connections, along with a 20G certified charging cradle that integrates into aircraft, marine or ground vehicle platforms. PNG features a battery life of up to 15 hours of continuous operation or 40 hours of standby time.

NTSB Report Released: Peach Springs, AZ

On February 10, 2018, about 1715 mountain standard time, an Airbus Helicopters EC130 B4 helicopter, N155GC, was destroyed when it impacted a canyon wash while on an approach to land at Quartermaster landing zone near Peach Springs, Arizona. The commercial pilot and three passengers sustained serious injuries and three passengers were fatally injured. The air-tour flight was operated by Papillon Airways, Inc. under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 136. The helicopter departed Boulder City Municipal Airport, Boulder City, Nevada at 1635 and had intended to land at Quartermaster landing zone, a group of landing pads within Quartermaster canyon. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and a company flight plan had been filed.

NTSB Report Released: Charleston, SC

On February 14, 2018, about 1336 eastern standard time, a Robinson Helicopters, Inc., R22 Beta, N337H, landed hard in dense vegetation about 5 miles southeast of Charleston International Airport, South Carolina. The flight instructor and student were not injured, and the helicopter sustained substantial damage. The helicopter was registered to Spitzer Helicopter and was being operated by Holy City Helicopters, Charleston, South Carolina, as a visual flight rules (VFR) local instructional flight, under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the flight, and flight following was not in effect.

NTSB Report Released: Stockbridge, MI

On February 13, 2018, about 1415 mountain standard time, a Schweizer 269D helicopter, N471RA, collided with snow-covered terrain while maneuvering at a low altitude shortly after takeoff from a private residence located near Stockbridge, Michigan. The pilot and passenger sustained minor injuries, and the helicopter sustained substantial damage. The airplane was registered to C. Aaron LLC, and operated by the private pilot under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 without a flight plan. Day visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the accident site. The personal flight had the intended destination of Ann Arbor Municipal Airport (ARB), Ann Arbor, Michigan.
