NTSB Preliminary Report: Dublin, GA

On April 15, 2019, at 0351 eastern daylight time, a Bell 206-L1+ helicopter, N395AE, sustained substantial damage when it made a hard landing after a total loss of engine power on takeoff from the Fairview Park Hospital Heliport (48GA), Dublin, Georgia. The airline transport rated pilot, flight nurse, and paramedic were not injured. The helicopter was registered to and operated by Air Evac EMS, Inc., as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 135 emergency medical services flight. Visual nighttime meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed for the flight destined for Macon, Georgia.

NTSB Preliminary Report: Fort McDowell, AZ

On April 16, 2019, at 0706 mountain standard time, a Bell 206B experimental helicopter, N61PH, impacted an alfalfa field, about 1 mile south of Fort McDowell, Arizona. The commercial pilot and pilot-rated passenger were fatally injured. The helicopter was destroyed. The helicopter was registered to TRE Aviation Corporation and operated by Van Horn Aviation, LLC for research and development flight testing under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and a flight plan was not filed. The second leg of the test flight originated from Falcon Field (FFZ), Mesa, Arizona at 0632.

NTSB Preliminary Report: Omaha, NE

On April 16, 2019, at 0730 central daylight time, a Bell OH-58A helicopter, N109PD, impacted terrain during an autorotation following a partial loss of engine power near Omaha, Nebraska. The pilot and co-pilot were not injured, and the helicopter sustained substantial damage to the tail boom. The helicopter was registered to and operated by the Omaha Police Department as a public aircraft operations flight under Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed in the area at the time of the accident. The flight originated from the North Omaha Airport (3N0), Omaha, Nebraska, at the time of the accident and was destined for Blair, Nebraska.

Leonardo looks at opportunities in Mexico and Latin America

Leonardo attends FAMEX, Mexico’s largest military, civil, and security aerospace expo in Mexico City, touting best-in-class offerings across its helicopter, aircraft and radar product lines and a new corporate office to open this summer in Mexico City. Latin America is becoming a strategic area for Leonardo due to requirements for systems to guarantee security and protection of national communities and capabilities to respond to environmental emergencies. Leonardo is already present in such markets with the C-27 – recently used by Peru to support the population affected by El Nino – and a large fleet of helicopters in many countries, including Mexico with over 80 units for law enforcement and public utility operations.
