Airbus delivers helicopters to Iraq Ministry of Oil

Donauwörth - Last month, Airbus delivered the final two of four helicopters from the H145 family ordered by the Iraq Ministry of Oil. The contract with the South Oil Company, a government owned company of the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, was signed in June 2014. The Iraqi Ministry of Oil has selected Airbus as its helicopter provider for its aviation department. The aircraft will be mainly operated from Baghdad and in the province of Basrah, supporting a variety of missions including surveillance, EMS and Passenger Transport.

NTSB Report Released: Hastings, MN

On June 15, 2017, about 1000 central daylight time, a Bell 47G helicopter, N90529, experienced a hard landing near Hastings, Minnesota. The pilot was seriously injured and the helicopter was substantially damaged. The helicopter was registered to NorthLand Helicopters Inc and operated by Scott's Helicopters, La Sueur, Minnesota under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 137 as an aerial application flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the flight and which operated without a flight plan.

NTSB Report Released: Tallulah, LA

On June 10, 2017, about 1320 central daylight time, a Hughes 269C helicopter, N7482F, was substantially damaged during a ground resonance event at the Vicksburg Tallulah Regional Airport (TVR), Tallulah, Louisiana. The pilot was not injured. The helicopter was registered to Wade and Son, Inc., and operated by the pilot as a 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight. Day visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the accident site. The flight was not operated on a flight plan. The local flight was originating at the time of the accident.

Aviation Safety Roadshows - at the heart of a partnership with the EASA

At the end of April 2017, Airbus helicopters signed a contract with NTU – a project management company specialised in the aviation sector – to organise and hold Aviation Safety Roadshows in 5 South Asian countries: Nepal, Bhutan, India, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. The project – launched by the European Commission (EC) and managed by the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) – aims to promote European aeronautical industries in South Asia, strengthen institutional relations between the EASA and countries in the region and increase flight safety in the area. NTU, mandated by the EASA, has selected a panel of experts to meet this triple objective.

Airbus Helicopters delivers final H145M to the German Air Force

Donauwörth, Airbus Helicopters has delivered the 15th and final H145M multi-role helicopter to the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). The helicopters, stationed in Laupheim, are operated by the Bundeswehr special forces. As the launch customer, the Bundeswehr ordered 15 of these high-performance helicopters in 2013 as part of the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) Special Operations Forces (SOF) project and received the first aircraft at the end of 2015. With this final delivery, Airbus Helicopters has completed the entire programme within the specified time schedule and budget.

South Korea’s LCH LAH Safran engine makes first ground run

Safran announces the first ground run of the Arriel 2L2 engine at its Bordes facility, beginning of June. The Arriel family was selected in 2016 to power the new Korean civil and military helicopters, known as the LCH (Light Civil Helicopter) and LAH (Light Armed Helicopter). The Arriel 2L2 is co-developed by Safran Helicopter Engines and Hanwha Techwin, which will license-produce units in its Changwon plant, South-Korea. Hanwha Techwin will also be responsible for the engine's MRO.
