Honeywell’s T55 Engine Upgrade To Provide More Power, Better Fuel Efficiency For U.S. Army’s CH-47 Chinook

WASHINGTON, - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) is finalizing a new and improved T55 engine to power the U.S. Army’s Chinook helicopters. The newest upgrade for the legendary T55 will offer over 20% more power at sea level, a nearly 10% power increase at high and hot altitudes, and use 9% less fuel than before. This new variant of the T55 will also greatly reduce ownership costs, improving the overall value of what is already one of the most battle-tested engines in the history of warfare.

Frasca RTDs Receive CASA Approval in Australia

September 16, 2019 Urbana, IL. - Frasca International, Inc. has received Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) approval on their RTD™ (Reconfigurable Training Device) as a category B synthetic trainer. Three FRASCA RTDs have been delivered to CAE for use at CAE Melbourne and CAE Tamworth training facilities in Australia. The three RTDs are reconfigurable between the Cessna 172 and Piper Seminole, all with G1000 NXi Avionics and feature a three-channel visual system.

NTSB Preliminary Report: Sardis, GA

On September 17, 2019, about 1230 eastern daylight time, a Robinson R44, N827JE, operated by Rowland Air Chem LLC, was substantially damaged during a forced landing near Sardis, Georgia. The commercial pilot was seriously injured. The aerial application flight was conducted under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 137. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and no flight plan was filed for the local flight that departing a staging area in Sardis, Georgia, about 1220.

NTSB Preliminary Report: Bloomsburg, PA

On September 28, 2019, about 1930 eastern daylight time, an Enstrom F-28F helicopter, N380SH, was substantially damaged when it impacted terrain and vehicles during an approach to a helipad at the Bloomsburg Fair in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. The commercial pilot sustained serious injuries and the two passengers sustained minor injuries. The helicopter was operated by J&J Shop HeliAir LLC. under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 as a local sightseeing flight. Night visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed for the local flight that originated about 1920.
