CHC Wins Contract with Providence Resources PLC

ABERDEEN, SCOTLAND, April 24, 2017 – CHC Group (the “Company” or “CHC”) today announced it has signed a new contract with Providence Resources plc (“Providence”) to provide helicopter services in support of its Exploration well program on the Druid/Drombeg prospect in Frontier Exploration Licence 2/14 of the southern Porcupine Basin, Offshore Ireland, some 215 kilometers off the southwest coast of Ireland. The contract will see a dedicated Sikorsky S-92 flying out of Cork Airport beginning this June and will once again see CHC work in conjunction with Lloyd’s Register (“LR”) as the wells project management company.

H145 is best in class for hoist operations with increased engine power

Marignane – Airbus has extended the flight envelope of the H145 by enhancing the helicopter’s OEI power. The acronym OEI stands for “One-engine-inoperative”, measuring the performance of an aircraft with only one engine remaining operative. With the increased power, the light-twin helicopter H145 can accommodate two additional technicians or can fly longer distances during a mission which requires human external cargo (HEC) operations.

BasicMed Begins

General aviation pilots can now prepare to fly under BasicMed without holding a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) medical certificate as long as they meet certain requirements. They can fly under BasicMed beginning on May 1, the effective date of the January 10 final rule. It offers pilots an alternative to the FAA's medical qualification process for third class medical certificates, while keeping general aviation pilots safe and flying affordable.

NTSB Report Released: Reefton, West Coast, New Zealand

On March 27, 2017, about 0345 Universal Time, a Robinson R22, New Zealand registration ZK-IHA, impacted forested terrain about 5.5 miles north of Reefton, West Coast. The pilot, the sole occupant was fatally injured, and the helicopter was substantially damaged. It was reported that the purpose of the flight was a private hunting flight.

NTSB Report Released: Snowdonia, Wales, United Kingdom

On March 29, 2017, about 1500 coordinated universal time, an Aerospatiale AS355 F1 helicopter, G-OHCP, collided with Rhinog Fawr mountain in Snowdonia, Wales, United Kingdom. The pilot and four passengers were fatally injured.
