Reno, NV – The first civilian hospital based helicopter air ambulance; “Flight For Life” started at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado in 1972.  Flight nurses Jane Miller and Margaret Tole began flying with Flight for Life in 1975.  Care Flight was born in 1981 when Miller accepted the position of Chief Flight Nurse, and along with Tole, moved to Reno, NV to start a much needed helicopter program to service the vast rural area of northern Nevada and northeastern California.  Both Tole and Miller are still with the program 30 years later. Tole has also filled the roles as the program’s Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, but has gone back to flying full time as a flight nurse. Miller is currently the program’s Vice President of Special Projects, overseeing the numerous accreditations and standards. 

Turbomeca (Safran group) is proud to deliver its 10,000th Arriel production engine, which will power a United States Army UH-72A Lakota helicopter. During a ceremony at the Turbomeca USA site today, Olivier Andriès, Turbomeca Chairman & CEO and Russ Spray, Turbomeca USA President & CEO, presented the United States Army a commemorative plaque to mark this event. Accepting on behalf of United States Army was Mr. Randy Harkins, PEO Aviation Chief of Staff and Lieutenant Colonel David Bristol, UH-72A Lakota Program Manager.

DCNS and Thales today announced the launch of a supplementary phase for the Technology Demonstration of a system for automatic landing and deck-landing of UAVs (D2AD), which has just been notified by the French Defence Procurement Authority (DGA). Sea trials of the demonstrator are planned for 2012 using a French Navy frigate and a Boeing, H-6U Unmanned Little Bird rotorcraft.

Grand Prairie, Texas – American Eurocopter announced today that the customer event for the EC145 T2 at its Grand Prairie, TX facility was a huge success. Customers were able to get a close-up look at this new helicopter, learn more about the features and benefits of this model from the Eurocopter Program Manager, and witness it in action during a flight demonstration.
