SUMMARY:
Participates in the collaborative development, implementation, and oversight of all initial education for medical flight crewmembers for Air Methods Community Based Services (CBS); Participates in the collaboration, implementation, and development of recurrent continuing education for medical crew members to achieve and maintain required competencies; Coordinates activities to achieve and maintain accreditation; Coordinates research in the air medical transport environment; Participates in the development and implementation of Quality Management programs; supervises and provides direction and support to Clinical Compliance Evaluators; Supervises new hire flight crewmembers during the orientation process in collaboration with the Regional Clinical Manager and Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluator
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:- Participates in the collaborative development, management, and coordination of new employee orientation.
- Reviews and revises divisional, regional, and area specific education plans on an annual basis, utilizing outcome data from TAMMA and the clinical compliance dashboard Ensures communication between Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluators and Regional Clinical Managers regarding new employee progress.
- Participates in the collaborative development, management, and coordinator of preceptor training.
- Assists the Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluators with the development of program-specific orientation for new employees.
- Collaborates with Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluators within the Region, in maintaining mutual resources for education available to all flight crews within the region.
- Assists with METI training and provides training for Clinical Compliance Evaluators on Human Patient Simulators, skills trainers, and other training equipment.
- Provides input for hiring decisions as needed.
- Assists in the identification and revision of all continuing education requirements to maintain compliance with all accrediting, regulating, and credentialing agencies.
- Assists Regional Clinical Director in assuring CAMTS compliance for all medical education requirements throughout the region.
- Assists with new base start-ups to include hiring, orientation, emsCharts and SiTEL training, and training on billing paperwork and medical necessity forms. Assists RCD in assessing educational requirements (didactic, clinicals, certifications) for established programs acquired by AMC.
- Ensures coordination of annual competency training, protocol testing, initial training for new medical equipment and/or procedures.
- Oversee coordination of scheduling and recordkeeping for initial and annual recurrent aviation, safety, and survival training for specialty team members.
- Reviews certifications and training records on a quarterly basis to ensure continued compliance by medical crew members and coordinates efforts with Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluators and Regional Clinical Managers.
- Assists in reviewing the Medical Operations Manual and Patient Care Guidelines
- Assists the Medical Directors and Regional Clinical Managers with Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Assists with research activities as requested.
- Participates in the planning of curriculum development, and oversight of annual mandatory classes in conjunction with the national training center staff and Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluators.
- Contributes to the planning of the regional education budget.
- Maintains all requirements and fulfills all essential functions of a flight crewmember as assigned, with the emphasis on being able to fly in the aircraft to observe and evaluate clinical crew member competency.
- Is able to travel throughout the region as needed.
- Provides professional development through continuing education annually for the Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluators.
- Ensures compliance with Air Methods CBS medical standards
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:EDUCATION:Meets qualifications of Flight Nurse or Flight Paramedic
BSN or Bachelor’s degree in health-related field* (*If the candidate does not have a Bachelor’s degree a BSN or Bachelor’s degree must be obtained within 4-years of entry into the position.)
EXPERIENCE:Five years previous flight experience
Previous education/instructor experience
Previous Education Coordination/Management Experience
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS- Meets qualifications of Flight Nurse or Flight Paramedic
- Specialty certification in compliance with CAMTS standards. CFRN or FP-C preferred
- Holds a minimum of one (1) current instructor card (not limited to BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, PHTLS, ITLS, TNCC, TNATC, etc.)
- Must obtain instructor status for all AHA required courses (BLS, ACLS, PALS) within 3 months of hire into position
PREFERRED:EDUCATION:MSN, advanced degree in health-related field
RELATIONSHIPS:REPORTS TO: Regional Clinical Director
INTERFACES WITH: Vice President of Clinical Operations, National Training Center Staff, Regional Clinical Managers, Medical Directors, Regional Vice Presidents, Regional Business Directors, Business Development Managers, Regional Logistics Managers, Regional Aviation Directors, Regional Maintenance Directors.
SUPERVISES: Regional Clinical Compliance Evaluators, New Hire Clinical Orientee’s
